A Whimsical Weekend with Tourism Toronto

Something magical happens when summer pays a visit to Toronto. As much as we are a city that embraces the cold, the hustle and bustle of Torontonians enjoying the sun’s warmth and a gentle Lake Ontario breeze is hard to be beat.

The events this past weekend only made us wish summer would linger a little longer, instead of leaving abruptly as autumn ascends. But let’s focus on the sunshine, shall we? Summer hasn’t said goodbye quite yet.

Tourism Toronto made its mark this season by throwing a phenomenal ASAE opening reception at the Royal Ontario Museum on August 12thIMG_9709

As guests made their way through the galleries, you could hear chatting over delicious morsels of Canadian and International inspired dishes.  Every nook and cranny featured a host of passed canapes and food stations including Cedar Planked Maple Glazed Salmon, Wild Boar Polenta and Japadog Style Mini Hot Dogs. On the sweeter side of things, guests could enjoy a taste of Maple Six, where a pure maple syrup reduction was frosted on snow and wrapped around artisanal cheese.  IMG_9402

The streets of Toronto, just outside of the ROM, there was a mouth-watering selection of BBQ items for attendees to enjoy at their leisure while being refreshed by a summer drink and entertained by live music. Muskoka Blueberry Lemonade Popsicles and Watermelon, Basil and Gin Popsicles were passed to guests. The end to the perfect Canadian evening? A tasty S’mores fire pit!  With a spot for everyone to roast marshmallows and create their very own classic campfire treat. It was the perfect way to end a marvelous summer evening. IMG_9641

Tourism Toronto’s special guests made their way to Ontario Place to discover a glamping-inspired dinner party. The awe-inspiring view was the perfect backdrop for champagne, passed hors d’oeuvres and an exquisite three-course seated dinner.


To start things off, guests were served Compressed Watermelon Salad featuring: baby cucumber, Niagara feta cheese, olive dust, balsamic pearls and smoked salt to perfectly complete this beautifully composed dish. Next, invitees had an difficult choice between Grilled Beef Strip Loin, Seared Black Cod or Quinoa Timbale followed by a deconstructed S’more with Ontario hazelnut crumble.

When all was enjoyed, guests took rest by the campfire and ended the night on an unforgettable note amongst great company. We are extremely proud to have been a part of an entirely whimsical weekend, enjoyed by all!
